Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt: undoubtedly the coolest couple in the whole shobiz scene. Their undiscussed appeal is confirmed in By the Sea, where they work together for the second time. Directed by Jolie herself and set in the Seventies, it’s the tale of an American couple going through a deep marital crisis. While travelling Europe in search of answers, they decide to stop in a small, colorful French village by the sea, where they meet a young couple and some other residents and start to discuss their unsolved problems. A deep drama that once again demonstrates Angelinàs love for very painful themes, as she also showed in In the Land of Blood and Honey and Unbroken. Mrs. Jolie Pitt, who is at the same time the author of the script, doesn’t only want her famous and gorgeous husband by her side, but relies on a brilliant cast, including Mélanie Laurent (we remember her for being one of the protagonists of Inglorious Bastards by Quentin Tarantino) and Melvil Poupaud, a great French actor. A must-see, touching and sensitive.
