In attesa della cerimonia di premiazione della 95ª edizione degli Academy Awards, in programma il 12 marzo 2023 e presentata per la terza volta da Jimmy Kimmel nella storica location del Dolby Theatre di Los Angeles, uno sguardo alle nomination appena annunciate. I titoli di punta sono senza dubbio Everything Everywhere All at Once di Daniel Kwan e Daniel Scheinert (vero protagonista di queste candidature), Niente di nuovo sul fronte occidentale (All Quiet on the Western Front) di Edward Berger e Gli spiriti dell'isola (The Banshees of Inisherin) di Martin McDonagh, complesso e sfaccettato ritratto di personaggi alla deriva.
La statuetta più importante, quella per il miglior film, vedrà tra i contendenti, oltre alle opere sopra citate, lo straordinario The Fabelmans di Steven Spielberg (candidato anche per la migliore regia), Tár di Todd Fields, lo scatenato Elvis di Baz Luhrmann e Avatar: The Way of Water di James Cameron, oltre a Triangle of Sadness, Top Gun: Maverick e Women Talking, adattamento del romanzo Donne che parlano di Miriam Toews, a sua volta liberamente tratto da fatti avvenuti nella colonia Mantioba in Bolivia nel 2011 (dirige Sarah Polley, produce Frances McDormand).
Presente anche un po' di Italia: Le Pupille di Alice Rohrwacher è stato scelto tra i migliori cinque cortometraggi live action e Aldo Signoretti è nel team del makeup e hairstyling di Elvis di Baz Luhrmann.
